BDB Pitmans brings together over 300 years of legal expertise across London, Cambridge, Reading & Southampton
On 7 April 2022 the UK government published its eagerly anticipated Energy Security Strategy, in response to recent soaring energy prices and the ongoing invasion of Ukraine.
This joint BDB Pitmans, DWD and Copper Consultancy webinar will dive into the detail of the strategy and consider whether it is ambitious enough, to put the UK in the best possible position to reach net zero by 2050.
Key themes to be discussed include whether:
- the strategy goes far enough to support solar, wind, nuclear and hydrogen project deployment;
- the government should be providing stronger support for other technologies;
- support for North Sea oil and gas production will hinder clean energy investment and decarbonisation targets;
- the proposals for infrastructure planning reform (consenting timescales and policy support) are sufficient; and
- more needs to be done to plan for the co-ordination and co-location of technologies and deal with grid capacity issues.
On what will be Earth Day we will be joined by an expert panel, who will be providing their perspectives on the webinar’s themes.
- Ross Grier from NextEnergy Capital;
- Paul Rees from SSE;
