About Building People

Building People is a social enterprise bringing together supply and demand across the Built Environment through our tech platform.

The second event from Building People in the 'Sharing Sixty' series: Sixty minutes of online equity, diversity and inclusion best practice for the built environment, shared by the Building People network, with a specific focus on engaging with people from diverse and under-represented audiences.

Hannah Brooke from Renaisi will talk on the theme of ‘How to hire refugees and support them to thrive in your workplace’, followed by an opportunity to ask questions and gain practical actions to support inclusive recruitment.

The session will:

  • Highlight the benefits of hiring and investing in refugee talent
  • Help employers better understand the barriers people seeking sanctuary in the UK face trying to restart their careers in the UK
  • Provide employers with clear actions they can take to level the playing field and recruit more inclusively

Renaisi is a social enterprise that has been creating the conditions for strong, inclusive communities to thrive for more than 20 years. Transitions is its programme that champions the skills of refugee professionals, helping employers build inclusive workforces by restarting the careers of refugee professionals so everyone can thrive.

This event is free to Building People supporters and members of the Building People network. 2023 will see similar monthly sessions focused on other diverse audiences (e.g. ex-military personnel, LGBTQ+ people, people from ethnic minorities, women, ex-offenders, people with disabilities / neurodiverse people and young people).
