Introduction to Pollution Prevention

Course Overview

This introductory course looks at pollution prevention from a business perspective and why it is an important aspect of environmental and corporate responsibility. This course will help businesses to develop a basic understanding of the possible sources of pollution, the key pollution legislation and how prevention should form part of a comprehensive environmental management system.

Who is it for?

This interactive ½ day course is designed for those with little or no knowledge of pollution prevention, and would suit those new to the sustainability and environment field or whose roles have been expanded to incorporate this subject.

• Identification of possible sources of pollution
• Understanding of how to start incorporating pollution prevention practices into your business

• Why is pollution prevention important?
• Description of possible sources of pollution, including: Water, land contamination, nuisance and water
• Overview of the key pollution legislation
• Introduction to the Source, Pathway, Receptor model
• Examples of good and best practice
