James McNee - COO at Design 4 Structures.

If we want a more efficient, cost-effective and sustainable industry, we need to change the way we approach construction.

This is why, in 2016, I co-founded Design4Structures. Positioning it alongside our construction modelling business ‘TDS’, meant we would be able to provide our clients with a more coordinated approach to design as well as sharing better data, prior to construction or manufacture, de-risking project delivery in the process.

Fast-forward to 2022, we made the decisive leap to officially bring both services together, solely as Design4Structures. After banging the ‘collaboration’ drum for so long, we’ve took it up at notch, presenting industry with a clearly unique proposition where engineers and detailers work in complete unity. We can deliver projects from RIBA Stages 0-5, collectively reviewing and refining, working closely with design partners throughout.

As Managing Director, with a focus on our construction modelling division, I’m proud of the team we have grown over the years. We challenge, we care and we are not afraid to do things differently. Together we have delivered on some immensely challenging projects, creating solutions that take construction where it has never been before – only achieved through our cross-division approach. We’ve reached award-winning status, with our modular roofing solution for One Sherwood Street, Piccadilly Circus and delivered an ‘industry first’ for the Hong Kong International Airport Authority, with our front-end design led approach.
