About Nicholas

Nick Garaty is a Trainee Solicitor (SQE) at Thomas Mansfield Solicitors, based in the firm’s London office.

Nick works across both the dispute resolution and employment teams, handling a broad range of legal matters. His role includes attending hearings, drafting legal documents, conducting research and managing cases efficiently.

He has experience in a wide range of civil disputes, including discrimination in the provision of goods and services, contract disputes, negligence, landlord and tenant matters, money claims and interim applications. In employment law, he focuses on discrimination, whistleblowing and unfair dismissal, providing strategic support to both employers and employees.

Nick specialises in contentious probate, with a particular focus on testamentary capacity and fraudulent wills. He excels in navigating complex and unconventional legal disputes, applying creative problem-solving and strategic thinking to secure the best possible outcomes for his clients.

Nick previously worked as a County-Court Advocate, building up a wealth of experience in advocacy and attending over two hundred hearings in various areas of law. More recently he performed worker compliance assessments for a well-known accountancy firm.

Nick has a degree in Law and Forensic Investigation from Canterbury Christ Church University, and completed the Bar Practice Course with a Masters in Law at the University of Law. He was called to the Bar in 2021. Nick is a sessional lecturer at Canterbury Christ Church University, having delivered on topics of Employment Tribunal procedure, time limits and whistleblowing law.

Nick was awarded the ‘Trainee Solicitor of the Year Award’ by the Junior Lawyer Division of the Kent Law Society.

Nick has a keen interest in international law and defence. He has written papers on international patent law and wartime technology and the regulations on development of novel weaponry.
